AJC: The Daily Quarks of My Life

A quaint blog where I can ramble about the up, down, and side-to-side motions of daily life.

Rough Week

This past week was a rough one. CHM 116 exam on Monday, 2 hour PHYS 172 exam Wednesday, and a 3 hour interview Thursday for a BGR Team Leader position. I did not do well on the exams, even after studying my ass off. At least the “interview” was fun, and totally not stressful.

Now I got to study for yet 2 more exams this week, ENGR 132 on Monday and MA 261 on Wednesday. They shouldn’t be too bad, but I’m going to study most of this weekend so I can do well on these.

And I’m glad I’m not slumping into my depression again. Well, at least any abnormal depression. Monday being Valentine’s Day is reason enough for any single person to feel sad, lonely, and even depressed. I’ll admit, I’ve been envious of my roommate’s relationship, or rather the fact he has a girlfriend, and is spending tonight with her on a typical Valentine’s Dinner. Oh well. I’ve got something in the works anyways…too bad she went back home this weekend…At least I spent Thursday night hanging out with her….

Anyways, I’m glad this past week is finally out of here. Next week shouldn’t be as stressful. And the weather is finally getting better: We’re above freezing today! And next week….50s! It’s good practice to look at the bright side of things in life.

CARPE NOCTEM.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

That quote is from Ralph Waldo Emerson. I have learned its meaning very recently and it has helped me greatly.

Mental breakdowns are NOT fun, contrary to unpopular pretense (did that make sense?). Anyways, I’m in the clear for now; we’ll see how this weekend turns out.

I am blessed to have such great friends who really do care about me. The support offered is truly appreciated - even if it wasn’t immediately taken.

RANDOM NOTE: Penn Station Subs are frickin’ fantastic. Reminds of Jersey Mike’s back in the Burgh.

RANDOM NOTE #2: Speaking of the Burgh, the STILLERS BE PLAYIN’ IN DA SUPER BOWL! Black and Yellow. All day long. Holla.

In a move that I never expected to experience in college, Purdue cancelled classes for TWO DAYS (Tues. & Wed.) due to the frickin’ blizzard we had. T’was a good choice. Snow days are just as fun as they were in high school.

Peace out.

CARPE NOCTEM.

agreed.

I get angry with myself if I ever start feeling down for no apparent reason and remind myself constantly that I am a very lucky person to have what I have when so many go without.
Everything seems stupid and petty when you compare your own problems to those that have ‘real’ problems and for that reason it is nice some times to forget that extra cup of coffee, or the slightly more expensive sandwich at lunchtime and just give a little bit as a charitable donation. It may not seem like much to you but every little bit helps and hopefully you will really help somebody out who needs it.

Thoughts.

Listening to country makes me think of you….

“You could be my tan-legged Juliet, I’ll be your redneck Romeo…”
